Lund Nominated for TAGIE Award
CHICAGO, IL (October 22, 2008) — Lund and Company Invention, L.L.C. announced today that founder Bruce Lund has been nominated as a finalist for the Toy and Game Inventor Award for Excellence in Toy Design, presented by the Chicago Toy and Game Inventors Expo (TAGIE). TAGIE is held this year in conjunction with the Chicago Toy and Game Fair (ChiTAG) at the Navy Pier Festival Hall from November 20–23. According to toy and game fair organizers, this awards event is long overdue.
“Bruce Lund and the other nominees have invented some of the hottest toys and games on the market, and have been constant champions of the industry for many years” commented Mary Couzin, Executive Director of TAGIE and ChiTAG. “Inventors like Bruce work behind the scenes and never seek the spotlight, so it is about time that our industry advocates begin to get the thanks and recognition that they deserve.”
TAGIE is a comprehensive toy and game inventor education program and attracts some of the biggest names in the industry. Representatives from toy and game companies around the world come to evaluate new products, teach professional development seminars, and offer expert advice to attendees. The finalists for the Toy and Game Inventor Awards will be recognized and the winner announced at the culmination of the Expo at a gala celebration at the Chicago Museum of Contempory Art on Friday evening, November 21.
“Being nominated for this award is very humbling, especially since there are so many other greats in the industry,” commented Lund. “But I have always believed in the power of toys to influence lives and change the world, even during difficult times — and it is this undying commitment that I hope will be my legacy.”
In addition to the Excellence in Toy Inventing Award, a special Industry Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Jeffrey Breslow of Big Monster Toys (BMT). Two other awards categories will be presented as well, including Excellence in Game Inventing and Rising Star. According to Couzin, inventors, industry professionals, retailers or toy and game lovers who would like to be part of this event and celebrate the creative minds of these inventors are welcome to attend the awards event
“Fellow inventors and top industry leaders, including Hasbro, Mattel, Fundex and many others, will mix and mingle and come together to honor the soul of the the industry, toy and game inventors,” Couzin said. “A magnificent dinner, cocktails and reception are planned for this event, which will be an exciting celebration of the innovation and creativity that abounds in this industry.”
